Cub fans #1? The whole world got to see the REAL cub fans during game 6 of the NLCS on 10/14/03. They are without doubt, the WORST fans in the world for blaming the loss on some hapless cub fan who did what any of the other idiot fans would have done--reach for a foul ball. Then the pathetic cub fans claim that the Marlins "don't deserve" to go to the world series--because they won it recently and they don't have as many fans as the cubs do. These people are total losers!

The San Francisco fans should be rated dead last. Besides a pocket of tough old ladys that have made the transition from Candlestick, the Giants have no loyal supporters worthy of comment. The have absolutely no baseball knowledge--most A's fans know more about the Giants than the fans from San Francisco. And,in fact, a huge portion of the crowd is A's fans coming to see a national league team or to watch Bonds, because

they are true baseball fans, unlike the Giants crowd who have always been mocked by the Oakland crowds for their baseball stupidity. Despite the sold out crowds, the place is one of the most quiet parks around. Just about every pop fly is greeted with a round of clapping until the fans notice that the ball hasn't even cleared the infield. San Francisco is just not a baseball town. Right now, going to Pac Bell Park is the thing to do in the city, but wait until Bonds retires and the varnish on the stadium has worn off a little, and the stadium will be empty.

Your rating of San Francisco Giants fans and stadium is perfect. That stadium is so close to the field you feel like you are in a shooting gallery. Someone surely will get killed in Pac-Bell from a batted ball because the lower stands are too close to the field. And the first SF fan to die will probably be someone either on a cellphone, reading a book, or talking about their latest trip to the wine country.

The Giants fans are ranked 28. That is hilarious. I don't take offense simply because I'm a Giants fan, but because I usually make it to 20 games a year and see the knowledge, excitement, and enthusiasm the local fans display. I can see the BoSox, Yanks, Phils, and maybe the Cubbie fans being ranked ahead of the Giants, but 27 other teams/fans...no. First off, haven't the Giants led all of baseball in attendance for the last few years. Second, I was recently watching the Giants at Padres and couldn't help but noticing that the Giants fans were making their presence more known than the Padres' fans....this at Qualcom. So, if the Giants fans are louder then the Padres at their own park, how do you list the Pads at 15....13 spaces ahead of the Giants. Have you actually been to these parks?

Oakland at no. 14??? Have you ever been there when the Yankees aren't in town? You can hear the crickets.

I'd just like to respond to your best fans list. I must protest. I'm a season ticket holder in Section 138 of the Pac Bell Park Bleachers, so I am a little biased. But for reference, I've been to over 30 games in 15 years at Dodger Stadium, 20 or so in Oakland, and several in San Diego, St. Louis, Wrigley, Colorado and Seattle. I've also been to Shea, Fenway and Yankee Stadium. Colorado, Seattle and San Diego simply have BORING fans with little enthusiasm. LA fans not only arrive late but the park is half empty when the last out is recorded, even in close games. Listen to the pro Giants' chants the next time they play in San Diego or L.A. Cincy and St. Louis have knowledgable fans, but with little exception are just as boring. This isn't Sunday School, there's no need to cheer the other teams good fortunes while your team is losing. And if you think Giants' fans are not into the game, you haven't been to the park in the last three years. Opening Season was an exception because it was filled with dotcom millionaires with nothing better to do with their money. Not to mention the population of the Bay Area has been infused with millions of wannabes from around the country. S.F. is back to the old days with the real bleacher hecklers and true fans. Come out and see for yourself. Sit in 138 and get a dose of what real baseball fans are like.
Sincerely, Brian P.

What the SMEG do you mean Giants fans are boring? You haven't been in left field, boyo. We had a LOT of fun with the Braves this year. I tried to explain to them the importance of FAN KARMA, and that by being so nasty and not tossing us balls during batting practice, and their surly demeanors during the game, they would surely lose--and they got shut out that series. The most fun we had was with "Chipper" (Larry Wayne) in left field. He seemed to disprove of being called 'wifebeater' and didn't find the girls who shouted "Larry Wayne, my momma was a waitress at Hooters--are you my daddy?" amusing, even though they are really nice girls and true baseball fans. Then, a fan brought out one of those life-size cardboard cutouts of "Chipper", accessorized with black fishnet stockings and lace panties, and after that appeared, I noticed that he never actually faced the bleachers. He would run out to center field, and back into position; he would return to his spot after a fielding attempt the same way. Sadly, "Chipper" "twisted his knee" during "batting practice" and wasn't in position on the final game--and he missed the Very Special Posters some of the grrrls made up for him! Just to demonstrate the efficacy of Fan Karma, the next team at Pac Bell was the Marlins, and the left fielder, Miguel ("Jailbait") Cabrera was the exact opposite of the surly "Larry Wayne"--"Jailbait" laughed, waved, tossed us balls, and was just the sweetest li'l ol' left fielder around, almost as nice as Luis ("Gonzo") Gonzalez, and MUCH cuter than "Gonzo", too! "Jailbait" hit two homeruns in the final game of the series, winning the game (Giants won 2 of 3). See, Mr. Hotshot Atlanta Pitcher, Ray ("Burger") King? THAT'S the Fan Karma I tried to tell you about! The next time I saw the Fishies play Pac Bell was in the Playoffs, and of all the teams I heckled in batting practice, they were the nicest of all. They were so nice, I had a very hard time coming up with any really harsh critiques of their performance, I simply didn't have the heart to be mean to such sweeties (and I didn't think they had a chance at beating the Giants anyway), even YOU, "Canine" Conine! Hey, dude, OK, you AREN'T a bum, Sushi Boy! Your team kicked our butts, you kicked everyone's butts, and the pure joy of watching you kick Yankee butt in their home town was priceless. See ya next year. Oh, "Gonzo" and "Canine", I'll buy the beer at Momo's but "Jailbait": not until AFTER your birthday and you're LEGAL! Tigger420.

I can't believe that you ranked my fellow Giants fans and I so poorly in your ranking of hecklers. You obvioulsy have never been to a real game at SBC, or maybe you were the one reading a book during the game. During the Giants Red Sox series this year the left field bleachers tore Manny and the red sox nation a new one. Giants fans were fighting BoSox fans in the ramps after the game and winning. I also can't believe that you ranked the worst fans in baseball, THE DODGERS, 11th. I think im going to puke. Have you ever been to Dodger stadium?? I can still remember sitting in the left field bleachers of Dodger Stadium, practically alone, with Giants fans, totally humiliating Jeremy Burnitz last year. At one point a Dodgers fan told me to leave him alone. Give me a break. Get your facts straight and remember the true Giants fans grew up in the toughest park in Baseball history(The Stick). And though SBC still holds a good amount of yuppies who show up for garlic fries, The high majority of Giants not only know their baseball, but love the game.
